28th March  2008 -More Westlife doggy dates

It common knowledge the competitive Westlife boys are regular visitors to ShowBiz Ireland... But come on - no sooner had we posted photos of Mark Feehily with his cute little dog Saffy, that Kian Egan appeared with his fluffy puppy Prince. Lads, this isn't Crufts you know?

The Westlifers were based in sunny Leeds this week and the only action happening outside their hotel was all canine based. With Kian and Mark the proud fathers of two furry friends, it was a case of walkies every few hours so the pooches could do their business.

It would seem to us that their respective relationship dynamics were on show with Mark's fella Kevin McDaid doing all the lead work, while Kian was the one to do all the walking while his fiance Jodi Albert was no where to be seen....

Next time we want, nay demand, that Kian & Kev get a break from pooch exercise duties. Both Jodi and Mark need to get out onto the streets of Leeds and walk Saffy and Prince. What if the two doggies start dating, can we collectively call them "Priffy"?

28th March  2008 -Westlife support hospice

By Adele Forrest

BOYBAND Westlife took time out of their arena tour in Sheffield to launch a new fundraising challenge for poorly youngsters.

The chart-topping Irish singers threw their support behind Bluebell Wood Children's Hospice's new campaign, The Golden Mile Challenge.

The campaign will involve fundraisers collecting enough £1 coins to fill tubes which each contain 100 coins. The challenge is to fill each tube in 100 days.

Bluebell Wood fundraising bosses hope to fill 5,000 of the foot-long tubes - making a golden mile of £1 coins worth £500,000.

The boys from Westlife released a joint statement saying: "We want to personally encourage everyone to take up the challenge to raise £100 each in 100 days for this vital local charity.

"Every penny raised will make a huge difference to the lives of local children with life limiting and life threatening conditions, and their families."

Bluebell Wood will host an official Golden Mile Challenge launch party next Monday, attended by some of the families who already use the facility.

To get involved with the challenge email michelle.white@bluebellwood.org or call 0845 108 1579.

One lucky winner will appear in the new Broadband TV advert, featuring Ken the Postmaster, played by Early Doors star John Henshaw, Westlife, Chris Eubank and Joan Collins.

"It also means that when we are away on tour, our friends and family can keep in touch."

27th March  2008 -WIN Westlife tickets for Sheffield showcase

l The Guide has teamed up with Sheffield Arena to offer you the chance to win tickets to see the famous Irish quartet in action

By Chantal Spittles
WESTLIFE fans could bag themselves a pair of tickets for the band's final Sheffield show in May thanks to The Guide.
Their 2008 tour started out as just one date, but following phenomenal demand the four-piece band added a third date at Sheffield Arena on Sunday 25th May.

Promising an evening of polished and seamless pop precision, Shane, Mark, Kian and Nicky will perform tracks from their latest album Back Home, as well as their biggest hits from their vast catalogue.

The band toured last year with The Love Tour, which visited countries across the globe, stopping off in Australia, South Africa and the boys' home city of Dublin.

And on arrival at London's Wembley Arena, it was declared that the boys had sold more tickets at the venue than any other act and had played a remarkable record number of 23 dates there.

No modern band can compare to Westlife's extraordinary success, after they scored 14 UK number one singles and 36 million records sold worldwide, making them the biggest-selling pop act of the last nine years.

As well as performing a blend of their own tracks and covers, including Mandy, Flying Without Wings and Us Against The World, they will perform their recent hit single Home, which launched in October last year.

Home is a cover of the classic Michael Bublé song, an emotive and heartfelt ballad, beautifully showcasing the smooth vocal talents of the band.

With lush strings, soaring harmonies and indelible melody, Home creates a sound that is both soft and mellow, yet unmistakably Westlife.

Tickets for the concert are now on sale and are priced £32.50 (subject to a booking fee) and can be purchased at the Sheffield Arena Box Office, by booking online at www.hallamfmarena.co.uk or by calling the credit card hotline on 0114 2565656.

But if you fancy your chances of winning a pair of free tickets to see the boys in action, simply answer the following question.

Q) What is the name of Westlife's latest album and how many members are there in the band?

To enter this competition simply click here.

The closing date for entries is Friday 4th April and winners will be contacted by telephone so do not forget to include a daytime contact number.

Only one entry is permitted per household and normal Guardian competition rules apply.

27th March  2008 -Westlife to play Pearse Stadium

June 21 likely date for pop sensations

POP sensations Westlife are expected to be confirmed for a sell out concert in Pearse Stadium in Galway this summer.

An announcement is due over the coming days that the record breaking boy band will appear at the 30,000 capacity Salthill venue on Saturday, June 21. And it is also expected that X Factor winner Shayne Ward will be named as the support act for the concert.

The Pearse Stadium Committee would not confirm that Westlife will be the summer concert but a spokesman said that plans were at an advanced stage to hold a concert at the venue.

It is expected that when tickets for the concert go on sale, they will be mopped up by adoring fans within a matter of hours. At the moment Westlife are on their ‘Back Home’ tour which includes dates in Belfast and Dublin in May and June.

There has been some confusion in recent weeks about whether or not a concert would be held in Pearse Stadium this summer. Aiken Promotions had applied to Galway City Council for planning permission to stage two shows at the Salthill venue - however, they encountered difficulties getting a headline act.

26th March  2008 -Westlife in Sheffield , also a link to watch a video(link in yelow)

By Sarah Dunn

WESTLIFE fans in Sheffield turned out in their thousands - some arriving in more style than others.
Hot pink limousines dropped off giggling school girls with their soon-to-be swooning mums for Westlife's first concert at Sheffield Arena last night.

Some had dressed up for the occasion in matching cowgirl hats with lots of sparkle, while others carried homemade banners with messages to their favourite Irish sweetheart.

above to see our exclusive interview with Westlife just minutes before they took to the stage in Sheffield.

It was the first of three nights in the city this month - and they'll also be back again in May after they extended the tour.

The concert was the ninth time Kelly Windsor had turned out to see the Flying Without Wings stars - but it was an extra special occasion.

She said: "My daughter Lauren has always wanted to come along with me and I said when she turned five she could, and here she is.

"So we hired a limo for the occasion to make sure we arrived in style!"

Christina Clayton and her daughter Chloe, aged 12, had done the same - but came armed with an Irish flag and emerald green stetsons.

Christina, from Thurgoland, Barnsley, said: "This is the 10th time I have seen them - I've been to one in Liverpool but the rest have been here.

"They just get better each time, they're just wonderful!"

The boys treated fans to a spectacular show featuring all their favourite hits as well as new tracks from their latest album 'Back Home'.

Fabulous costumes, set designs, and lighting effects all came together to make a dazzling performance.
