Listen to tracks from Back Home right here

They're back with their storming new single Home this week, and now we bring you an exclusive preview of tracks from Westlife's forthcoming album Back Home.

The player includes the current single, as well 3 new tracks: Us Against The World, Something Right and I'm Already There.

Tipped to be the second track off the album, Us Against The World is a classic Westlife power-ballad. The lads – Shane Filan, 28, Nicky Byrne, 29, Kian Egan, 27, and Mark Feehily, 27 – reckon it's the best song on the record.

Something Right is a Backstreet Boys-esque tune, which has a sing-along chorus and a great pop beat; while I'm Already There is ballad with a folk/country sound.

Westlife have also done 3 covers/remixes: a dance remix by Soul Seekerz of Home, an up-tempo cover of Bonni Tyler's Total Eclipse Of The Heart and a cover of American rockband Chicago's Hard To Say I'm Sorry.

The first 2 are a break from the boys usual sound, with an up-tempo dance feel.

Hard To Say I'm Sorry plays out like a classic Westlife single and sounds fab.

See what you think...

31st October 2007 :Boyband GonBroadband In Post Office®

Westlife Shock Post Office® Customers with Surprise Appearance

Irish heartthrobs Westlife made a shock surprise visit to the Trafalgar Square Post Office® today to talk to customers about the new broadband service.

Stars (L - R) Mark Feehily, Nicky Byrne, Shane Filan and Kian Egan, pictured here with Post Office® Counter Assistant Daksha Gorsia, surprised onlookers who were there to post their letters and pick up their pensions. In the shock visit, the boys appeared behind the counter and talked to customers about the brand new broadband service, now available at over 14,000 UK Post Office® branches and at www.postoffice.co.uk.

Customer Tori Stokes, 28, of Fulham, said: “I couldn’t believe it – I just popped in to post a package and next thing I knew Westlife were behind the counter. They were much smaller than I imagined they’d be, but just as gorgeous!”

Today is also the day the boys’ new single ‘Home’ is released, which is hotly tipped for the number spot this weekend.

The band said: "Broadband is great - it means our fans can download our music in an instant and keep up to date with our latest news through our website. It also means that when we are away on tour, our friends and family can keep in touch. The new Post Office® Broadband service means even more of our fans can reach us, at the click of a mouse."

Westlife star in the Post Office’s® new high-profile TV advertising campaign alongside other familiar household names such as Joan Collins, Wendy Richard and Bill Oddie.

Originally signed by X Factor judge Simon Cowell and now managed by pop maestro Louis Walsh, Westlife have achieved 10 number one singles and 6 number one albums since they launched in 1999. ‘Home’ is their first single since November 2006 as well as the first from their new album ‘Back Home’, released 5 November.

The Post Office® is offering a unique, reassuringly easy to use service, providing national coverage at a universal price. Packages start from £16.95 per month.

31st October 2007 :No SHow for band

TOP boy band Westlife yesterday pulled out of a signing event in Birmingham citing "prior engagements".

The group was due to be signing copies of their new single Home at the Woolworths store at St Andrews Retail Park in Small Heath.

But a Woolworths spokesman said: "We haven't been given a firm reason why the band decided to pull out. We just had a call from them saying there were sorry but they had prior engagements.

"We'd be pleased to have them back again but it doesn't look likely, at least in the short term."

Westlife were at the centre of a security alert in a post office.

They were behind the counter of London's Trafalgar Square branch to film an advert for the PO's new broadband service when a fan leant over the counter and set off the alarms.

We hear: "Our manager had to reset all the computers and it caused a bit of a delay. Westlife looked bemused but the people queuing up for their pensions weren't best pleased." D'Oh!

Westlife's Shane Filan: I want the perfect bod

Singer says he's become a fitness freak

Westlife star Shane Filan has revealed he's become a fitness fanatic in a bid to get a perfectly-toned bod.

The singer, 28, says he got into a more active lifestyle because he felt chubby.

'I was unhappy with my body,' he admits. 'I was maybe a ½ or ¾ of a stone overweight. I just wanted to be leaner and fitter. Mainly to be fitter, to have more energy and have a better lifestyle.'

Now Shane visits the gym regularly for a workout.

'I've got a whole new lease of life in the last 2 months,' he tells Now Online. 'I've never felt better in my life.'

30th October 2007 -  Nicky Want A Slice Of The Action In Hells Kitchen

WESTLIFE singer Nicky Byrne wants to be top of the pots - in reality show Hell's Kitchen.

The father of two believes he could take the heat in the kitchen when confronted by fiery chiefs Marco Pierre-White and Gordon Ramsay.

Nicky, 29, revealed he would turn his back on posh nosh and try to impress the celebrity chefs with a hearty fry-up.

He said: "I am good at cooking. I would love to do a chef's course, and I really enjoy watching Hell's Kitchen.
"I would love to be on the show - but my speciality dish would have to be a greasy fry-up.
"In moments of weakness I always cook myself a fry-up.
"My wife Georgina is very into nutrition but nothing beats sausages and eggs in the morning. I love chips too."

Even when Nicky is heading for a night out he is led by his stomach and enjoys a romantic meal with his wife Georgina Ahern.

The Flying Without Wings singer said: "The ideal night out with my wife is a nice meal in Shanahan's on the Green in Dublin, or if we are in London then somewhere like the Cipriani.

"Then, meeting up with the rest of the lads and their partners to go to a club or a party."

But doting dad Nicky admitted he now does more night feeds than nightclubs and loves every minute of it.

His wife Georgina went into premature labour and identical twins Rocco and Jay were born by Caesarean section on April 20.

Nicky said: "The most surprising thing that happened to me in my private life would be when the twins arrived eight weeks early. They are great little dotes."

And if Nicky was not singing he would be kicking a ball for a living. He said: "I am good at football. I always played as a kid although I don't get to play as much now.
"Football was my life when I was a kid - I played for the Ireland 16-18s and was signed by Leeds after that."

Home is where the heart is for Westlife

Westlife have jetted all over the world during their music career, but the boys insist that their solid home lives keep their feet on the ground.

The Irish foursome, who are the new faces of the Post Office, credit their families with helping them deal with fame.

"I think home to all of us is very, very important," Mark Feehilly revealed.

"We've all got very solid families and we've all had very good upbringings back home.

"We're very lucky to be surrounded by a lot of love."

And for new dad Nicky Byrne, home has become even more important after the birth of his twin sons earlier this year.

"We haven't been getting a lot of sleep for the first part of it," he admitted. "But I think any new parent will tell you that it's all worthwhile in the end.

"They're starting to kind of giggle and smile and do a lot of things now."

30th October 2007 -  Westlife: Futureproof Won't Work -

Westlife: Futureproof Won't Work -

Westlife have apparently spoken out about X Factor finalists Futureproof - saying they won't work together as a boyband.

"I can't really see it working," Kian told Reveal magazine.

"The problem is that all the boys in Futureproof auditioned to be solo artists, so there'll be a lot of competition over who gets to sing what.

"I'm sure it's pretty rosy at the moment because they're doing something they never expected to be doing but I just don't see it lasting.

"You can't take five guys, put them together in a band on such short notice and throw a lot of fame at them. It can work with an individual, but with bands there's an awful lot of other stuff involved - particularly egos."

The boys added that when Brian quit three years ago - it altered the dynamics of the group.

"That scared the life out of us," Kian continued. "But it worked out to our advantage. It allowed us to reinvent ourselves as a four-piece and give ourselves a new lease of life."

Exclusive Timberlake was ideal to take Brian's place

IRISH popsters Westlife have revealed that when Brian McFadden quit the band in 2004, their ideal replacement would have been Justin Timberlake.

Band member Nicky Byrne admitted: "Justin would have fitted in just right. I think he would have been great. We would have loved him to bring Sexy Back with him."

But the Irish foursome obviously realised that, despitehaving14 No.1singles in the UK, Justin might well have shown them up on the dance floor.

Shane Filan joked: "Yes, he would have been able to do all of the dance moves."

But Shane said it wasn't just Westlife who were big fans of the American singer. His two-year-old daughter Nicole is also an admirer.

We caught up with the boys in Aberdeen at Asda Be Live!, a new music event organised by Emap Radio Events and the supermarket chain.

Backstage Shane told us that Nicole loved to dance to Justin's tunes.

He said: "When I put his album on, she sings Sex-song Back and dances. It's so funny watching her. But she does ask us to put daddy's song Home on too." This weekend Westlife are set for a chart battle to win their15thNo.1withthat track. But they admitted they would have had no chance if they had been up against pop babe Leona Lewis.

"Leona has had one of the biggest weeks of the year," Shane said. "It's looking like she is going to do about a quarter of a million sales so she probably would have beaten us. I think she has out sold Take That two to one, which is pretty big."

But the boys, who are renowned for being well mannered, would have taken the defeat in good grace.

"She has got a great voice," Shane continued. "When we met her last year, she was a really nice girl, a sweetheart. It looks like she will have a great career ahead of her."

But if they had been up against Take That in the charts, Shane admitted it could have gone "either way"

Video: Westlife

Monday, October 29 2007, 20:06 GMT

By Nick Levine, Entertainment Reporter

After popping on their rat pack garb for Allow Us To Be Frank, messing about with Diana Ross on Face To Face and stuffing The Love Album with more classic love songs than the Magic 105.4 playlist, Westlife have returned to straight up pop music. And about time too – that tally of 14 number one singles isn't going to grow by itself. As they prepare to release Back Home, their eighth studio album, we ask the Irish lads what's driving them in 2007. Do they really want that chart battle with the Spice Girls? Do they ever argue with Simon Cowell? And did they mind taking "a few jabs" from Take That last year? Press play to find out.

Leona To Light Up London
Leona Lewis will light up London's Oxford Street this year.

She’ll perform the task of turning on its world-famous Christmas lights next month.

The X Factor winner, who has just rocketed to Number One in the charts with her new single Bleeding Love, will turn on the lights in a special ceremony on November 7.

Thousands are expected to come to see the star at the event on the capital's most famous shopping street, where she is also due to perform her latest track for the crowds.

This year's lights and decorations also mark the release of Disney's family film Enchanted and will see the street transformed into a "dazzling canopy of magic."

The film is about a princess who emerges straight from a Disney classic into the modern day reality of New York.

Westlife and the West End cast of Mary Poppins are also set to perform at the ceremony.

29th October 2007 :Homes For Pups That Melted The Hearts Of Westlife -

Homes For Pups That Melted The Hearts Of Westlife -

BY KELLY SHORROCK
KSHORROCK@DERBYTELEGRAPH.CO.UK

Five puppies whose mother was abandoned in Derby have found new homes thanks to an appeal on a national television show.

The dogs are currently being cared for at the Just For Dogs rescue and re-homing centre in Brailsford.

After they appeared on Channel Four's Paul O'Grady Show, where they were cuddled backstage by boy band Westlife, the centre was inundated with calls from prospective new owners.

The puppies' mum, Poppy, a cairn terrier, was found wandering the streets of Derby a month ago with Dice, a collie-cross, thought to be their father.

They were taken to Cotton Lane police station and rescue workers for the charity, Margaret and Doug Smith, were called in.

Mrs Smith said Dice was very friendly and happily went into the rescue van, but when her husband tried to move Poppy she was very aggressive.

It was then that he heard squeals from underneath the dog and when he moved her, he saw she had given birth to six puppies, although one did not survive.

The dogs were taken to the rescue centre and two weeks later, Mr and Mrs Smith were approached by a researcher for the Paul O'Grady show who wanted to know if they had any dogs looking for a new home for a regular slot on the programme.

Mrs Smith, 50, said that taking part in the show had been wonderful.

She said: "It was a fantastic day. Paul was very genuine and sat on the floor playing with the puppies. All the staff were fantastic, I think they must have a clause in their contract saying they have to be animal-lovers because they were great.

"Paul's own dog was a rescue dog and was also born in a police station, which is why he chose us, I think. It was obvious that he was a real animal lover."

Paul was not the only star the puppies met that day, as Westlife were also appearing on the show and took a real shine to the animals.

The appeal for new owners also proved to be a huge success, with more than 30 people calling the centre before the programme had finished.

Mrs Smith said: "The resp
